Record Holder

Yeap, I am officially the record holder in PINUS for the number of F collected in NUS. Obviously I am not proud of it (bloody hell, this semester I cried 2 full minutes) but in a way I would choose to laugh at myself as compared to cry/hate myself.

It might have been FO
It might have been FYP
It might have been incompability
But one thing I know, it is NOT coincidental

And those who read this post, I would still be in NUS for another year...

My Faith

My faith is irrational. Even if you have managed to prove that all the basis of my faith are wrong (or fallacious or skewed) I dont think I would change my faith. Hence, regarding my faith, I am an irrational, ignorant, illogical, hard-headed person...

Hypothetical Case

Imagine a situation like this:
For a reason, you are presumed to be dead by the whole inhabitants of the Earth other than a plastic surgeon who totally changed your appearance and voice. The said plastic surgeon happened to be dead due to a heart attack right after your surgery is done. At the same time, due to your 'death', all your identification documents have been destroyed. Assuming that you managed to forge all new documents and get a believable identity, do you think you can convinced your loved ones that you are you? An additional condition: somehow you cant say directly that you are you...

PS: No significant reason why I asked this thing... I am just wondering about this ya know...

The Adventure of a Budget Fan

Sharing van from Changi Airport to Gallery Hotel -> $12
Sharing van from Zouk to Tanjong Pagar -> $15
Food/drinks while waiting at J8 -> $5
Meet BEG + Jea's autograph -> close to priceless

**********************

Maybe we all know that TLO is a big kpop fan. Well, to be exact.. general one. And it just happens that last week Brown Eyed Girl comes to Singapore for (what was it again) Sundown event... So this budget fan (as TLO did not buy the concert tix and spent $20 for the autograph) decided to try his luck and contacted local fanclub. Here's the account.

I came down at 3pm on Thursday although it was stated that BEG would arrive at Singapore at 9pm and the fans would start gathering at 5pm. Committed to be a crazy-ass fan, I came down to Changi straight after my 0830-1400 CBLC duty shift. As expected, none of the fans is there, totally in contrast with Shinee.

Oh well, to cut story short, I met few members of BEG Intl Forum admins and heck, they are damn sucked at hospitality. For an hour they didnt talk to me. To be exact, they friggin ignored my existence (which I later learnt that they are just being *cold* to strangers). I made some eye contacts which was ignored by that girl who sat in front of me (apparently she was kunimelon/Doris) and my attempts of starting convo with people were met with one worded answers (coldest tone awards goes to 'smirk')

Hey dont get me wrong, I was stating history... They are nice fella!!
Griffie: we were seriously sorry for being unwelcoming at first
Smirk: i am really sorry to say that during the meeting i seriously didn't bond that much with any of you ...

So well, my first hour was hell. Thus, I was having enough and of course, time for some actions. I talked straight to their de facto leader (apparently was Alvin), trash it out a little (in controlled manner, I am old enough now, thanks) and 'taught' him a lesson on hospitality (by welcoming what I knew later as Sengkiat and Farhan) and yep, I guess they treated me slightly better. And now the fun part started!

Waiting for delayed artistes can be fun. I happened to have Gajah Mada with me so time passed quite fast. Of course the interactions with the people helped. I learned that SK is a huge fan of SNSD and he played SNSD songs repeatedly on his PSP. I was told also that there were Invincible Youth analogy in BEG fanclub, with Sunny being the member with golden hair (which I identified later as Eri). And as usual, it is always interesting meeting bunch of people. It is even more fun this time, as they were coming from a different background, from secondary school student (Alina aka fourasone) to those in polytechnics (Marcus).

The rest is just a history for me. The events are just sequence of happenings:
- the Initial D with the facebook group (I didnt know there was the unhealthy rivalry between them!!!)
- stay over at Alvin's house
- finding receipts at 5am, one of which was $20.01 (how imba was that)
- J8 queue (Jonathan from soshified was it? and Jason was nice to me!)
- fansigning (GaIn was seriously cold and irritating imho)
- that autograph from Jea in the Pasir Panjang restaurant
- point blank shoot with handphone camera at the side entrance of Zouk (including SK's pic with GaIn SK: who brought fun into the place^^ and like the photo taking of me and GaIn)
- handshake with Narsha, GaIn, Miryo
- the Semarang girl, Amanda
- code red thingy?
All those was just memory, pretty much insignificant to (what Ted, who joined me on the hunt as well) the new OG I got in form of BEG International Forum. And of course, it is not a surprise eh that I am now one of their DJs (DJ JoKer in da house yo)?

[I didnt get to follow them on Sunday and Monday, partially due to PL and 3232 midterms on Monday, damn...]

So here's a thing I learnt from becoming a fan:
To enjoy fandom to the fullest, you need two things, time and money.

On Hell

Ya know there is a kind of Chinese tradition, whereby when someone pass away, the relatives of that person would burn hell money and paper buildings (I think it is what they call it) which I found a little bit intriguing. Being Chinese myself I often wondered, why this thing has been carried out. According to my older relatives, this is done in order to provide money (and necessities) to the spirits/ghosts so that they can get some comfort in their after life. Oh well, I found this tradition stupid.

Wait a sec....

I am not talking about this from religious (spirits do not live like human) or the lack thereof (there is no after life) point of view. I have my own set of belief on this from that angle, and so do you, I guess. But, let's talk about this in term of economy instead. This is more interesting in my opinion.

First of all, have you ever noticed how much money being burned every time (ie the denomination)? It can reach about more than hundreds of millions... Insane right? Such amount of money can create hyperinflation worse than Europe in early 1900s. I could elaborate further on this, but just click the wiki link. It basically explains what I want to say.

Burning paper buildings doesnt help either... Since no soul (by logic) can escape from hell, and there is a constant supply of people going to hell, (and let's assume hell is not expanding, ok?) there is going to be overpopulation in hell. So where the hell are you going to put your building (pun intended)? Oh wait... You can always set up Hell Development Board (and of course... no freehold). Even if hell is expanding, come on... By convention hell is pretty hot eh? In such climate, you are going to need a lot of air conditioner to keep your huge houses cool. Such a waste of energy right?
(TLO recently received a nice point from Sec, his friend : might as well build a gas-fuelled electricity plant... since hell is THAT hot... then you can generate money)

So, having said all the nonsense above, my suggestion Nonk's suggestion is to burn SNSD humanoid paper doll. Ya know, I think that really makes sense. Things can get very hot in hell, so why not turn it even hotter? Moreover, souls in hell might need entertainment eh? And with so much money they have (see above), I am sure they dont mind paying a million or two to watch SNSD. Oh and tell your relatives to burn 3 sets of costumes for SNSD to wear on performance every week please...

TLO Is Back

One might think that The Lame One has abandoned this blog. Indeed pretty true, but not necessarily true. He doth stop writing earlier, but since he just read a blog by the one with the pseudoname Ins& Poet (oh well... that is the best translation that I can do) now he is on fire again to write.

Interestingly this year's Valentine's Day coincided with the Chinese New Year. Whoo boy, now that would be the reason why this year Vday was not really so-called romantically meaningful to me. The environment maketh the mood, no? Oh well, without the existence of those lovey-dovey couple around, that cursed romantic feeling wont be around as well.

Anyways speaking of the environment, NO WONDER MY LIFE IS THAT MESSY!!! The environment I am living in right now (ie that teeny weeny room) is in the worst possible mess. Indeed I saw something worse than this before, but hey... this is bad enough. Which brings me to the next point... THAT tradition of spring cleaning before Chinese New Year apparently was created (my extrapolation here) in order to set the festive mood.

Ya know, I have been writing rubbish so far. But consider this as a warm up okay? My fingers are kind of rusty, the dance that they used to do are no longer able to execute, now oh well... it is more like a greaseless machinery. But no worry, I will be back with more stories, more insight once those fingers recall how to dance again.

For now, TLO is out!
